Block week 4

First follow up

With the last block week ahead of us, I'm certainly happy I have the opportunity to look back and consume the amount of work I've done concerning my intern ship year. I truly grown as a person and as a architect students as well. The start of this final bock week really made me think back to the start of this year, which I certainly didn't know what to expect from this year. It turned out to be very hard to actually carry through an entire year without any holiday resulting in me growing as a person because this is my first year of experiencing the work environment as a draughtsman but taking the holiday away from me, I received a salary instead which I really appreciate getting an opportunity like this. I find myself learning steel structures on the first day of the block week as a third year lecture teaching us the the concept we be doing during next year and this really help me understand the concept of third year a bit better. I really enjoyed the first day and hope the rest of the week turns out to be the same as yesterday.

Second follow up

With the second day behind us, we really turned up the heat with little time to discuss the work but to jump straight in and have it completed with crits to help us out where it can. With only one day dedicated to studio work this time around I really had to step up and start my work in time to have it completed and most importantly have the work correctly done with no opportunity of redo's I worked through the night right up to 3 am to complete exercise 1 of studio. Taken time into consideration I really underestimate the exercise and with my partner missing he's train to town I had to work on my own and side step our work we started with. House sue was a good example of steel construction and this really help us with the preparation for next year. We had a lecture called Mike to help us with the understanding of steel construction and give us the foundation of understanding needed for next year which also benefited us because he will be the ctd lecture of third year and had that taste of what we can expect.

Third follow up

With studio hand in today I really feel relieved having completed the work because It was really time consuming and i had to take my time to have the work correctly done first time around. I finished in time and handed in. With the start of ctd I feel that we have a bit more freedom concerning the work because its more easy to understand what is expected from us and with the freedom of cad we can really prepare our work to be of good quality and have the work done in time and correctly done.

Forth follow up

With a week of extended work for both studio work and ctd, I came to realise that time management is a huge factor when you studying architecture and without any rule and regulations you set yourself you will really end up finishing nothing but a blank piece of paper. With our work handed back to us we received some feedback from our fellow students which I feel really helped me a lot. With those who received good feedback from the lectures their work was pinned up and this help us out with some idea of the correct path to follow. As the time passes the work load seems to be picking up and this comes in again when I said time management is our vocal point to succeed as architects.
